Sausage, Peppers & Onions Skillet
This quick and flavorful skillet dish combines pre-cooked chicken or turkey sausage with tender onions and bell peppers, all seasoned with Italian herbs and a splash of balsamic vinegar.
Ingredients:
- Yellow onions, peeled and sliced into rings – 6 cups (~1½ large onions)
- Large bell peppers, sliced about ¼ inch thick – 2 (4 cups)
- Fully cooked reduced-fat chicken or turkey sausages – 1 package (12 oz, 4 sausages)
- Olive oil, divided – 3 tsp
- Dried oregano – ¼ tsp
- Dried basil – ¼ tsp
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper – to taste
- Fresh garlic, minced – 2 tsp
- Balsamic vinegar – 1 tbsp
- Cooking spray – as needed
