Honey Garlic Chicken: Sweet, Sticky, and Irresistible
Instructions:
Season the Chicken:
Pat the chicken dry using paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Sear the Chicken:
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the chicken to the pan and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger (if using).
Simmer the Sauce:
Lower the heat to medium. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the same skillet, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly.
For a thicker sauce, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it into the sauce.
Coat the Chicken:
Return the chicken to the pan and spoon the sauce over the pieces until fully coated. Simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Serve:
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm over rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.
Variants :
Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken: Add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha to the sauce for a spicy kick.
Baked Version: Place the seasoned chicken in a baking dish, pour the sauce over it, and bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes.
Vegetarian Alternative: Use tofu or cauliflower instead of chicken. Sear until golden and coat with the honey garlic glaze.
Thicker Sauce: For a more decadent, sticky glaze, add a cornstarch slurry (1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with water) to the sauce.
Tips :
Golden Perfection: Make sure the pan is hot before adding the chicken to achieve a nice sear and lock in the juices.
Flavor Boost: Use fresh garlic and ginger for the best flavor – it makes all the difference!
Gluten-Free Option: Use tamari instead of soy sauce to keep the dish gluten-free.
Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet for the best texture.
Serving Suggestion: Pair this dish with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or noodles for a complete and balanced meal.
